Madeleine Ruskin is a Melbourne based writer, editor, podcast host, and disability advocate.

Her dedication to amplifying representation and inclusion for disabled, chronically ill and neurodivergent people has been a driving force in her career and creative decisions.

She’s been lucky enough to have a range of different roles in editing, digital marketing, social media, community management, audio and video production, and communications for technology companies, non-profit organisations and academia. She worked within the screen industry for over five years, with roles in broadcast media, production companies and state funding bodies.

Madeleine was the Scripted Coordinator at SBS where she was involved in projects including The Unusual Suspects, New Gold Mountain and The Tailings and as a script development assistant for Such Much Films and was involved in projects including Falling for Figaro. She was a recipient of the 2022 Victorian Screen Development Internship, gaining first hand experience with the development teams at VicScreen, Paramount Australia and New Zealand and Fremantle Australia. She has freelanced in the screen industry, providing script coverage and research work to production companies including Endeavour Ventures and Such Much Films.

Madeleine was the Community Manager at Spoony, the fastest-growing social app for neurodivergent, chronically ill, and disabled people in the world. She fostered Spoony’s vibrant and supportive community of over 40,000 members by engaging the audience across digital platforms, content strategy and creation, and managing and maintaining relationships with the community, the media and influencers.

She has a BA in Creative Writing from RMIT University and a Masters of Creative Writing, Publishing and Editing from the University of Melbourne.

Madeleine identifies as being chronically ill, neurodivergent and disabled, she lives with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS), Fibromyalgia, Long COVID, anxiety and complex post-traumatic stress disorder (C-PTSD).
